Rajaji (Chakravarti Rajagopalachari) the first Indian Governor General of Independent India, Independence activist, politician and writer was an Iyengar.
Vasundhara Das, the Indian singer, actress, composer, entrepreneur, speaker, songwriter and environmental activist belongs to the Iyengar community. She won the Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award in 2001 for her famous hit "Shakalaka Baby".
The famous Indian actor, writer and producer Madhavan is an Iyengar. He is known for romantic charm in his hit movies like Alaipayuthey and Minnale.
B.K.S Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar Yoga, is considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2014.
The multitalented Kamal Haasan is an Iyengar. He received the Padma Shri in 1990 and the Padma Bhushan in 2014.
Hema Malini, the Indian actress, director and producer, who rose to fame as the "Dream Girl", belongs to the community. In 2000, she was presented with the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and the Padma Shri.
